Celebrating our 40th year!

The Northland Antique Radio Club invites you to RADIO DAZE 2026 at the Comfort Inn Plymouth - in Plymouth, Minnesota, for our 38th year!

Radio Daze is THE destination for radio collectors across the country who regularly come to buy, sell, and swap radios, to participate in the radio contest, to find some bargains at the radio auction, and to attend the outstanding programs RADIO DAZE is known for.

Highlights of RADIO DAZE 2026 will include:
  • RADIO AUCTION Friday evening May 15th.
  • Outdoor SWAP MEET Saturday morning held in a huge sellers-only area in the parking lot.
  • RADIO CONTEST featuring a wide variety of vintage radios, etc., on Saturday afternoon.
  • PROGRAM: Door prizes, contest awards, and an entertaining performance by the legendary Twin Cities crooner Vic Volare on Saturday afternoon!
  • PAVEK MUSEUM: Free Admission Friday & Saturday.

- EVENT REGISTRATION -

Everyone is encouraged to support this, and future NARC events, by registering! Registration is required to sell in the parking lot, for admittance to the Hospitality Room, and to all indoor events except the auction.

Registration is not required to buy or sell at the auction, or to buy at the outdoor swap meet, but we do encourage everyone to register since your support is needed to continue holding these events in the future. All who register will be put on the NARC mailing list and may receive emails when we learn of other area auctions, sales, etc., that would be of interest to radio collectors.

You can pre-register (and save $4.00) by returning the pre-registration form before May 8th to: NARC, PO Box 18362, Minneapolis, MN 55418.

After you arrive, please pick up your name badge and other materials at the registration table in the hotel's main ballroom.

- AUCTION -

The meet kicks off with a large antique radio auction in the hotel main ballroom at 6:30 p.m. Friday! You do not need to be registered for Radio Daze to buy or sell at this auction. You can consign up to 10 radio items you want to sell by bringing them to the auction between 1:30 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Bid numbers $1 if registered, otherwise they are $10.
  • Limit of 10 lots will be accepted from each seller.
  • Entry fee is $5 per lot, payable by seller at check-in.
  • Seller may add any reserve to their lot for $2 fee.
  • ZERO sellers or buyers fee on sale price!
  • Lots that don't get an opening bid of at least $10 will not be sold.
  • Buyers are responsible for examining items prior to bidding. NARC assumes no liability or responsibility to buyers or sellers for auction results.
  • All items must be paid for (cash or check only), and THEN REMOVED on Friday evening.

- RADIO CONTEST -

Please bring your favorite old radios and enter them in the following categories in the radio contest!

- CONTEST CATEGORIES -

CRYSTAL RADIOS - Any radio with a crystal detector.

PRE-1930 RADIOS - Any radio made before 1930.

1930s AND NEWER TUBE RADIOS - Any radio manufactured since 1930 that uses tubes and does not have a Bakelite or plastic cabinet.

BAKELITE / PLASTIC TUBE RADIOS - Any tube radio in a cabinet made of any type of Bakelite or plastic.

TRANSISTOR RADIOS - Any radio using transistors.

NOVELTY OR CHARACTER RADIOS - Any tube or transistor radio with a cabinet that looks like something other than a radio, or featuring a character such as Bozo on it.

RADIOS IN ORIGINAL BOXES - Any radio or related item displayed with its original box or shipping carton.

ART DECO / MACHINE AGE RADIOS - Any radio with Art Deco or Machine Age styling.

SPEAKERS - Any speaker made before 1935.

RESTORATION Any radio-related item, judged for quality of electrical and cosmetic restoration.

RADIO ADVERTISING - Any item that advertises anything related to radio.

OPEN - Any radio or radio-related item not included in the other contest categories.

- CONTEST INFORMATION -

BEST OF SHOW - Trophy awarded to the best overall contest entry, as determined by the contest judges.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE - Trophy awarded to the entry receiving the most show attendee votes.

GENERAL AWARDS - First, second, and third place ribbons within each contest category will be awarded by the contest judges.
  • Items that have previously won an award in a Radio Daze contest may not be entered again.
  • Contestants may only have ONE entry per category. Any single entry having more than one item must be documented to explain the significance of the additional items.
  • Items must be entered in the most appropriate category. Judges reserve the right to move an item to the most appropriate category.
  • Judging is based on rarity, collector appeal, historical significance, condition, documentation, and presentation.

- 40th ANNIVERSARY DISPLAY -

In conjunction with the radio contest will be a display of former NARC Best of Show and People's Choice contest winning items and their ribbon or trophy. If you have an item that won the Best of Show or People's Choice award in a NARC contest, please bring it and the award to display!

- Entertainment: Vic Volare !
- Door Prizes

Vic Volare is the Twin Cities legendary crooner. His rat pack stylings have been thrilling crowds since 1996. Along with members of his fabulous Volare Lounge Orchestra, Vic will entertain us with a variety of swing music and classic standards like we used to enjoy hearing on the radio.

- HOSPITALITY -

Visit the Hospitality Room for coffee, rolls, cookies, snacks. soda and water!
Some options for lunch are Lucky's 13 Pub within the hotel and other restaurants nearby, including Perkins, Arby's, Burger King, Wendy's, Davanni's Pizza, and Chick-fil-A.

- HOTEL INFORMATION -

This will be our 27th year at the same location! If you plan to stay at the Comfort Inn, please call them to reserve your room by May 1st to assure room availability, and mention you are with the Northland Antique Radio Club to get the Radio Daze special rate of only $109 per night for either Double or King rooms, Thursday through Saturday nights.

- AREA ATTRACTIONS -

The Pavek Museum, at 3517 Raleigh Ave, St Louis Park, MN 55416, is offering FREE ADMISSION for Radio Daze attendees on May 15th and 16th. It has a fantastic collection depicting the history and technology of electronic communication, including radios and other electronic items.

Other attractions within 30 minutes include the Minnesota Zoo, the Mall of America, Mystic Lake Casino, Valley Fair Amusement Park, the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the downtown areas of both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

- RADIO DAZE RULES -
  • NO SELLING ON FRIDAY !
    We do not have permission at this location to display anything for sale except on Saturday.
  • Registration is required to participate in RADIO DAZE events. Wear your name tag at all events.
  • Only Registered Sellers can park in the roped off swap meet area on the west side of the hotel.
  • Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted.
  • Trash should be disposed of in the receptacles provided. Junk radio parts must be taken home.
  • NARC, nor any individual member or officer shall be held in indemnity, nor be liable for any injury to any person nor for any loss, theft, or damage of any property at this event.
