WORKSHOP at the PAVEK MUSEUM

Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 12 Noon

Pavek Museum
3517 Raleigh Avenue, St. Louis Park, Minnesota

All NARC members are invited to attend our annual Radio Workshop at the Pavek Museum. Steve Raymer organized the first workshop back in 1988 and now, for the 34th time, he has lined up another interesting program for the 2022 workshop.
Whether you work on your own radios or not, you'll enjoy this event, and it is free!

A small swap meet will be held outside, weather permitting, in the Pavek Museum parking lot prior to the workshop, so bring whatever radio items you want to sell and be sure to bring some cash in case you find something you need to buy! It is free to attend or sell at the swap meet, so we usually get a good turn-out unless it is extremely cold or snowing outside. There is no official start time, but the parking lot is usually fairly busy by 10 a.m.

The museum doors will open at 11 a.m. Masks will be required inside the building and the room capacity is limited to 40 this year, so only current NARC members will be admitted.
If you are planning to attend the indoor workshop, please click here to send an email to the club to reserve one of the 40 seats. We hope the number will be higher by February 27th, but we can't count on it and don't want anyone to be turned away at the door!

The museum has been remodeled again so the hour before the workshop begins will be a great time to explore it and socialize with the other collectors. Snacks and drinks are not allowed in the museum area and will not be provided this year.

The workshop will start at 12 noon and will include the following presentations:

Gary Ball will lead a discussion about some of the first U.S. transistor radio manufacturers, including Regency, GE, Raytheon, Zenith, Philco, Sylvania, and Bulova, among others.

Matt Hyman will show us how to repair paper and cardboard items.

Larry Tell will show us his method for replacing 01A tubes with transistors.

Dan Gordon will tell us 20 things he learned while fixing old radios.

Please contact Steve Raymer (phone 612-562-4626) if you would like to present a restoration topic too!

Additional topics may be covered, and there will be a Show & Tell similar to what we've done in the past. Please bring a favorite radio and tell us about it! Everyone enjoys seeing the radios that others have collected, and prizes will be given to the three voted most popular by the audience.

See you there!
